White House Correspondents' Dinner

White House Correspondents' Dinner

Photos of Dan attending the 2013 White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington last night have been appearing online. The Guardian, First Post and Washington Post all have great photos.

If you get the MPT channel, keep an eye out for a programme on 9th May. According to the site we get to meet Dan.

My Suit

Reminds me of a suit I wore last spring.
I must have lost 2 kg sweating that night, but I had a blast.

Dan and Michelle no longer friends???

Could someone shed light on whether Dan and Michelle are still friends? I love both of them equally... Sad to see that they did not pose for a pic at the WHCD 2013. Understand that Dan wants to distance himself from Downton but hoping that he and Michelle are still on friendly terms. Would love to see them work together again!!!

Dan and Michelle no longer friends ????

If they had stepped up and posed for a photo together, the rumour mill associated with Season 4 of Downton Abbey would have gone into overdrive.

Dan Stevens was not there because of Downton Abbey....

Spot Dan!

Dan at White House Dinner

Dan, you looked rather lost and lonely on entering foyer. You've changed your appearance so much. Realise its for movies etc. but please, please get back in some way to your usual smashing self. Its a step too far, Dan. Love you lots but this is not the Dan I know! PG

My heart went out to Dan on the carpet

He looked so lost and unsure of what to do, like a kid at their first day of school and I just wanted to hug him.

I'm very surprised at how logistically awkward that entire red carpet set-up was, especially for such an event. Even the most well-known DC/Hollywood names seemed insecure and unsure of where to walk/pose etc. once they came through those revolving doors, so not surprising that Dan seemed a bit lost. Not very well organized at all.

Yes, did look a bit of a muddle, & another thing

Yes, it certainly looked a bit of a muddle, not the slick sort of operation that would be expected from such a big event.
I think that maybe Dan's politeness and good manners may not have been to his advantage in this instance, although I would much rather him this way than pushy and arrogant.
As has been said before, these sort of events may not always be easy and as enjoyable as might be thought!

Also, with regard to some comments about the lack of photos of Dan & Michelle at the WHCD - why read anything into this at all? Both were there as guests of different organisations and as such they are expected to be seen with, and socialising with, their hosts. We shouldn't presume anything or draw any conclusions about Dan & Michelle's friendship - photos taken earlier this year in New York showed them enjoying a meal out with friends and there were some lovely heartwarming photos of the Downton Abbey cast with Dan after one of his performances of The Heiress.

Thank you & such a gentleman

Thank you for the link to view the video.

What stands out for me, is how very gentlemanly and polite he is to his fellow guests, whilst waiting for his turn on the red carpet. So good to see his English manner is still strong.
I also noticed a tweet from Lauren Young who works for Thomson Reuters, attending the WHCD, who commented on "what a gentleman" he is.

Well done Dan! It can't always be fun or easy attending these sort of events.
